Whoever could have known the adventure, excitement , and joy of associating with
great artists which would commence with our purchase at the NAILLE in
Louisville, KY
on 11/10/07.
The cameo pendants at the concession stand at the NAILLE in Louisville where we
found “Designer Jewelry by Ronaldo”, were just plain exquisite. We could not
pass them
by, even though they were priced a bit high for our “WE’RE JUST LOOKING” thru
those
aisles.
Judy loved the blue cameo with the woman in white upon it, and Jeanie
found an oval
cameo w/draft horse and barn, named Bertha. Liggett’s had owned a good mare
named
Bertha, so it just was a natural selection. Also, Mick, Jeanie’s
husband, could never
remember whether her name contained one n or two n's.
Judy, on the sly, went back to the stand of Ronaldo and purchased the oval/draft
horse
cameo for her best friend, Jeanie. Ronaldo was asked to just have the
horse standing and
not leaping into the air. That did not seem to be a problem.
Jeanie brought the blue cameo with woman in white to the attention of
Bill Crouch, Judy’s
husband. This piece was purchased for Judy at that time.
However, we were not to end out with this particular oval/draft horse and barn,
because
when it came – the horse was leaping! So, Ronaldo, being the gentleman he is
told
Jeanie that he would send the corrected standing horse, and sent her a
two horse running
cameo pendant to keep, saying he would get right on the correction of the first
piece.
Throughout the winter months of 2007 and Spring months of 2008, Judy and Ronaldo
maintained contact through the use of e-mails and the telephone. Judy had
decided to
really surprise her friend with an entirely different cameo. She wanted to
express her
endearing friendship to Jeanie with a cameo befitting the closeness of
their feelings
for one another. The word “Bona Fide” and a cameo pendant displaying two
young
women facing one another came to Judy’s mind. After looking through Ronaldo’s
website, two women figureheads were found to complete this idea.
The cameo
itself was to be an oval 30 x 20 shown as “Love’s Dance”
Left
Figurehead was “Elizabeth”
Right
Figurehead was #4044
“Ronaldo” (at the time this oval pendant was formulated in Judy’s mind) was
doing
business with the renowned artist from Italy, “Gennaro Borriello”. Mr
Borriello is
72 years young, and continues to do inspiring designs, even though his
son-in-law
kindly bought him a pair of fine glasses so he could better his work. Mr
Borriello
(not-so-kindly) told the young whippersnapper, that if the eyes God gave him
were
not good enough he would retire!
When Ronaldo told Judy of:
Mr Borriello and his agreement to work on this piece, she was extremely humbled
and
thankful that this could be done for her friend. Ronaldo assured her that this
piece
would not cost any more that had been paid for the original “Bertha”. He kept
his word
even though he had an added expenditure of more that $600.
It is hard to
believe that
there are still people like Ronaldo on the face of this earth,, but he is living
proof that
Christianity and kindness still abound.
My friend, Jeanie and I both want to express our gratitude to Ronaldo for
his
sincereity, and for friendship extended to strangers, who became friends.
This great
artist and individual took the time and effort give a part of himself for others
to whom
he owed nothing!
We thank him for the fine cameo pendants he made available
to us.
These pieces of his handiwork (and that of Gennaro Borriello) will be cherished
by us
during our wearing of them throughout the rest of our lives. |
